Dog Training with a Prong Collar
A prong collar is used to restrain a dog from a bad behavior. It can be harmful to the dog if it is used in the wrong way. A
prong collar consists of several prongs that are bent inwardly towards the dog’s throat. It is considered much safer than a
choke chain because the prongs are evenly distributed on the neck of the dog. The prong collar is suitable to use for dog
training if the dog does not yank while on the leash. The prong collar must never be turned inside out. If the prong collar is
turned inside out, it could cause injury to the body and head of the dog. To protect your dog, you can cover the tip of the
prong with a plastic cap. Prong collars are worn just below the ears on the dog’s neck. Some dogs can easily remove the
prong collar by shaking their heads. If your dog is able to free himself from the prong collar, you can use a second collar.
In this way, the dog won’t be able to escape.
